This study may be applied to different research locales to differentiate if the environment they were living in impacts social media addiction in family relationships.
- ItemGrowth performance of FaST (FAC SELECTED TILAPIA STRAIN) fed under two feeding schemes [manuscript](2017) Marlee Esmeere D. BaduaThe study was conducted to determine the effect of two feeding schemes on the growth performance of FaST (FAC Selected Strain). There were two (2) treatments replicated three (3) times for a total of six hapas that were installed in an earthen pond measuring 200 meter square at the FAC facilities. The hapa with a dimension of 1m x 1m x 1.2 was used for the feeding experiment. The fish weighing 5-10 g were randomly with selected and stocked at 30 fish per hapa. The different feeding schemes served as treatments in this study: T1 (daily feeding) and T2 (alternate-day feeding). Statistical analysis revealed that the growth of FaST in T1 (daily feeding) and T2 (alternate-day feeding) had no significant differences except for the feed conversion ratio with significant differences. Growth parameters such as initial and final weight, gain in weight, specific growth rate (SGR) and survival rate were evaluated in this study. T1 (daily feeding) gained the highest average final weight of 55.88 g ± 6.92, specific growth rate 4.33%±0.33, while on the survival rate, the T2 (alternative-day feeding) had highest survival rate with a 52.22% ± 2.22. All growth parameters showed no significant differences, which mean that both daily and alternate feeding can be used by fish farmers. However, in terms of cost savings, though treatments were not significant, there was a better and efficient feed conversion ratio in alternate feeding.
- ItemEffect of pigment extract from sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) leaves on the growth, survival and skin coloration of red tilapia fry (Oreochromis sp.) [manuscript](2017) Sunshine V. AmoThe study evaluated the effect of pigment extract from sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) leaves on the growth performance, survival and skin coloration of red tilapia fry reared in indoor glass aquaria. Treatment I- control diet (with Omg of pigment extract); Treatment II - treatment with 500 mg pigment extract and Treatment III - treatment with 1000 mg pigment extract were the treatments evaluated. Results of the study showed that final weight, body weight gain, absolute growth rate and specific growth rate of red tilapia fed with diet with 1000 mg pigment extract were higher than those fed with diet with 500 mg pigment extract and diet without pigment extract. However, analysis of variance revealed that differences were not significant among the treatments. Survival rates were likewise comparable. Skin colorations of red tilapia were compared to a color chart and comparison revealed more intense coloration of red tilapia fed with diet with 1000 mg pigment extract than tose fed with diet with 500 mg and diet without pigment extract. However, analysis of variance showed that skin coloration of fish among the three treatments were comparable.
- ItemRearing of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fry using two bio-shading materials in tank [manuscript](2017) Mark Jayson D. AtaydeThe study was conducted to assess two bio-shading materials (water spinach and duckweed) for fry rearing in tanks in terms of growth performance of fish and water quality. Treatments used in the study were the following: T1 (25% covered with duckweed), T2 (50% covered with duckweed), T3 (25% covered with duckweed), T2 (50% covered with duckweed), T3 (25% covered with kangkong), T4 (50% covered with kangkong) and the unshaded tank which was the Control. Results showed that the four (4) treatments which are covered with any aquatic plants were significantly lower pH in the morning compared to control. In the afternoon pH reading, Control was significantly higher than T3 and T4 but not significantly different with T1 and T2. T4 showed the highest potential in reducing pH which was significantly lower than T1 and T2 but not significantly lower than T3. In terms of weight gain, fish from the control significantly gained higher weight compared to other four treatments. Other than pH and weight gain, D.O., temperature, TAN, Total solid and survival rate were not significantly different between treatments. The study showed that tanks covered with aquatic plants can significantly reduce pH, particularly water spinach. The study also showed that tank without shading can significantly increase weight gain compared with the other shaded treatments. Based from the results the following were recommended for further studies: 1) screening of other macrophytes that have potential in maintaning good water quality; 2) use pond as experimental unit to observe actual fluctuation of water quality readings and; 3) conduct experiment during wet season. The s.
- ItemInfluence of temperature on the level of aggressiveness of red tilapia (Oreochromis spp [manuscript](2017) Laura Marie C. BenignoThirty (30) red tilapia were used to determine level of aggression as affected by different level of temperature. Treatments usedwere 29°C, 31°C, 33°C, 35°C and 37°C and were replicated thrice. During the three-day interaction period, mean ECP of fish at 29°C (2.69±1.67) and 31°C (2.91±1.91) were significantly higher than those at 33°C (1.29±1.91) were significantly higher than those at 33°C (1.29±1.06) and 37°C (1.50±1.04) but comparable to that at 35°C (1.67±1.65). Mean ECP of fish at 35°C was not significantly different from those at 33°C and 37°C. Higher mean ECP was observed at lower temperature, which is in contrast to the results of studies on Nile tilapia where higher ECP was observed during stressful condition i.e. higher temperature. Meanwhile, mean VR of fish was significantly higher at 33°C (2.39±0.39 beats/sec) and 35°C (2.37±0.27 beats/sec) than those at 29°C (1.92±0.39 beats/sec) and 31°C (2.00±0.42 beats/sec) but not significantly different compared to that at 37 °C (2.21±0.65). Mean VR of fish at 29°C was also comparable to that at 31 °C. Mean VR values increased as the temperature increased up to 33°C, then gradually decreased up to 37°C. The decrease in VR was due to increase in the opening of the operculum and mouth during respiration, as the fish were gasping for oxygen that resulted to lesser operculum movements per second. Higher VR was observed at higher temperature, except when the temperature was too high to cause death of the fish; Body color of fish was also observed and skin color of red tilapia exposed in high temperature became more reddish compared to the control or ideal temperature of water. Dominant red tilapia exhibited darker body coloration while the subordinate exhibited paler body coloration. Number of attacks were observed in 10 minutes daily. There is no significant difference on numbers of attacks among the treatments (P=0.153, n=40)., It was also observed that in day 1, Treatment 2 (31°C) had the highest number of attacks (68.33±16.92), while in day 2, Treatment 3 (33°C) showed the highest number of attacks (125.67±69.42), and in day 3, Treatment 1 (29°C) showed the highest number of attacks (88.66±31.78). In Treatments 1, 2, 3 and 4 subordinate fish had died due to wounds caused by the attacks of dominant fish. In Treatment 5, there were mortalities due to the exposure to higher temperature.

- ItemThe Filipinization of the English Language employed i Twitter(2018) Orlyn Joyce D. EsquivelThis thesis analyzed six (60) selected tweets from Twitter individually, with the purpose of characterizing the distinctive features of Philippine English. The tweets were examined under lexical and grammatical features, alongside with the following linguistic features: graphology, syntax, and lexical semantics. This study used the Language Drift Theory as a basis to explain the process of Filipinization. In giving light to the discussions, descriptive quantitative-qualitative research was employed. Results revealed the prominent lexical, grammatical, and linguistic features through tables and textual analyses, illustrated from the most to least dominant linguistic elements. In terms of lexical features, the nouns were the most observed; and adjectives had the least. Under grammatical features, it was evident that pronouns are the most used; and articles were the least employed. In the graphological level, there was a relative scarcity of period, apostrophe, comma nd hyphen in the tweets; yet there were instances of abundant use of period , exclamation mark and question mark resulting to '...', '!!!' and '??'. Moreover, the first letter of the first words, the letter 'I', and proper nouns were not capitalized. In terms of the spelling, there were abbreviating, shortening, affixing, and misspelling present. Based on the data, misusage of punctuations was the most observable. In the syntactical level, there were tweets that subjected the predicate-initial form, which executed the 'Philippine-type' patterning. Furthermore, in terms of sentences structure, dependent clause and complex sentence have had the most numbered among the classifications. In the lexical semantic level, the scrutinized Filipized idions, and lexical innovations appeared. Lastly, the researcher provided specified comparative analyses to solidify the distinctive features of Philippine English as a dialect of International English with graphology, syntax, and lexical semantics as bases for the discussion. The researcher also had a native speaker as a key information in able to support the details, and provide nativized English translations.
- ItemMotifs and archetypes in Christopher Nolan's "The dark knight trilogy"(2018) Dexter V. GonzalesThe primary purpose of this study was to test whether Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy can be considered a reinterpretation of ancient myths. In doing so, the structures and patterns of the trilogy were narrowed down to two, namely: Norse and Philippine mythologies. - ItemInvolment of Central Luzon State University faculty members in research and development projects(2018) Paolo Carl E. SolivenResearch and Development (R&D) is an important component for national advancement and these projects are considered functions on academia and the industry. Nowadays, Higher Education Institutions (HEI) such as college and universities are major contributors' in generating new knowledge and technologies and also in development projects for improvement and innovation. Faculty members of HEIs are not only educators but also researchers and inventors, This study seeks to generate new knowledge on the limited existing studies on faculty members involvement in research and development (R&D) projects. It aimed to point out the cause of the low levels of involvement in R&D Programs. Sixty-one faculty members answered the questionnaire. They were chosen using a combination of stratified and simple random sampling as the sampling method. Based on the gathered data results, majority of the faculty members of CLSU are involved in research and development projects and more than half of the faculty members who were not involved in R&D are into research. According to the response of the faculty members who were not involved in R&D, majority answered having no time and funding. Faculty members view overload units on instructions, lack of resources such as equipment and facilities, and funds for R&D projects as problems. The main reason why other faculty members were not involved in R&D projects was overload on teaching.
- Item2D and M-Mode Echocardiographic evaluation of dogs with canine heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) infections [manuscript](2018) Mikko Angelo G. Reyes; TBD SupervisorThe study evaluated the cardiac functions of dogs infected with Dirofilaria immitis infection, using 2D and M-mode ultrasonography. A total of 15 heartworm positive adult dogs tested using MCT, aged 3.8+2.62 years old, weighed 9.78+4.99kg, with body composition score of 4.73+1.06 were examined. Among the 15 animals only six (40%) have clinical symptoms, animals are then prepared for ultrasonography evaluation. Adult canine heartworms (HW) were visible as two parallel lines separated by a very thin hypoechoic center located within the right pulmonary artery. Sometimes extending to the main pulmonary artery and right ventricle. HW was visible only in ten (60.67%) dogs with varying worm loads. The results of this study showed that there were alterations in some chamber measurements and functions and right pulmonary artery distensibility index of heartworm positive dogs based on their body weight and the established reference values.
- ItemAssessment of role awareness and performance of Barangay Captains in San Jose City(2018) Rubia D. Hernandez; TBD SupervisorThe general objective of the study is to assess the role awareness and performance of barangay captains in San Jose City. - ItemMajor practice in selected vegetables grown in Bahay Kubo Garden at College of Agriculture (Dry Season 2019) [manuscript](2018) Mikaela E. GatbuntonThis major practice was conducted from January 21, 2019 to April 26, 2019 in the Department of Crop Science, College of Agriculture, Central Luzon State University, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija. The general objective of this major practice was to expose the student to the production management of different crops in the Bahay Kubo Garden. The specific objectives are to perform the cultural practices as required in the production of brassicas and Cucurbits vegetables planted in Bahay Kubo Garden, to improve and maintain the upkeep of the Bahay Kubo Garden and lastly to assess the profitability of assigned vegetables using cost and return analysis. In brassicas and cucurbits production, enough knowledge such as accurate plant spacing, proper sowing and pinching applying adequate amount of fertilizer and pesticide and hand-on management is necessary to maintain its productivity and profitability. During the duration of major practice, the student was exposed to differenr cultural management practices involved in producing vegetable relying to the Brassicaceae (radish and mustard) and Cucurbitaceae (wax gourd, sponge gourd, bottle gourd and squash). Field operation in the Bahay Kubo Garden like land preparation, sowing of seeds, fertilizer application, water management, pest and weed management, harvesting, sorting and marketing. The generated sales for both the two group vegetables totaled Php 1,136.00 (Php 201.00 for cucurbits and Php 935.00 for brassicas). After deducting the total expenses from gross income a total of Php 681.87 was loss to cucrbits production while Php 740.73 in brassicas production. The different constraints that have the Bahay Kubo Garden are first phenological development of bottle gourd. Unfortunately, the seed testing was overlook, maybe it was already old and not hybrid. Second was pests in cucrbits. In vegetative stage of cucurbits. In vegetative stage of cucurbits, aphids and thrips attack the plants. And last poor security in the area.
