Abstract
The study evaluated the effect of fermented rice bran on the growth performance of red tilapia (Oreochromis spp.) cultured in hapa installed in an eathen pond for 60 days. Red tilapia were fed with commercial feed (Treatment I), mixture of 50% fermented rice bran and 50% commercial feed (Treatment II) and 100% fermented rice bran (Treatment III). Result of the study showed that red tilapia fed with commercial feed had significantly higher in final length and weight, body weight gain and specific growth rate than those fed with mixture of fermented rice bran and commercial feed and to those that were fed with 100% fermented rice bran. However, red tilapia fed with 100% fermented rice bran obtained a significantly higher taste rating compared to those fed with commercial feed and mixture of 50% fermented rice bran and 50% commercial feed fish survival in three treatments were comparable.
