Abstract
Benign envy is define as the feeling/emotion that an individual will have to strive to level themselves up as a person and pursue their goals in life. In order to know the relatedness of benign envy in the self-esteem and academic performance of a student and the socio-demographic caharacteristic (gender, religion, and sibling position) of the participants a survey were assessed. It is hypothesized that Benign Envy had a significant relationship to self-esteeem and academic performance of participants and if there a significant difference between benign envy when it comes to the socio-demographical characteristics of the study. The benign envy and self esteem shows a P-value of .153 while benign envy and academic performance of an individual showed P-value of .212. It showed that the students benign envy does not increase together with the self-esteem of an individual and that in every increase of academic performance of an individual/student's benign envy does not increase together with the academic performance. The study also found out that there were significant difference between Benign envy when it comes to the sibling position of the students and that the only child and the third child had a higher level of benign and youngest and eldest are the lowest. Further this study showed that between Catholic and non-catholic, male and females, both catholic (m=2.7403) and females (m=2.7214) showed greater level of benign envy rather than non-catholic (m=2.7403) and males (m=2.667).
