dc.description.abstractThe Department of Animal Science, College of Agriculture, Central Luzon State University, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, offered major practice as an option to undergraduate thesis. Through this program, the studentwill have the opportunity to enhance and develop the practical knowledge obtained in the classroom. The actual experience of the students to the field will promote proper working habits and skills in poultry production. The major practice student was exposed to the different management aspects of raising broilers, pullets and layers. He experienced and learned the different management practices such as brooding and growing of layers and broilers, feeding, providing water to birds, lighting management, debeaking, egg collection and grading, selection and culling, health management, hauling broilers, marketing and record keeping. During the major practice at the APO Broiler Project, the initial number of birds is 19,790 birds. The harvest recovery was 94.75 percent or a total of 18,665 birds with a Feed Conversion Ratio of 1.83 and average live weight of 1.419 kg which resulted to a total payment of Php 194,791.64. Total operating expenses was Php 80,544.00 which gave a net income of Php 114,247.64 and a return on expenses (ROE) of 141.85%. At the APO Poultry Module I, the partial cost of rearing 2077 pullets until 17th week of age was Php 167.85 per bird.
