| dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to determine whether the citizens are aware and have access to TB-DOTS services. The study was conducted in Rosales Municipal Health Center Rosales, Pangasinan, Philippines where the data needed could be easily collected. Purposive sampling was used in selecting the respondents of this study. The respondents of this study are ten TB patients who have been availing free health care services under TB-DOTS provided by the Rosales Municipal Health Center. Everett M. Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation Theory (DOI) was anchored to this study. The data collected comprised of primary data using interview schedule. Highly descriptive research was used to depict the quantitative and qualitative data gathered from the respondents. Results showed that the age of respondents ranges from 27-76 years old and the mean age was 55.60. Sixty percent (60%) of the respondents were male and forty percent (40%) were female. Forty percent (40%) finished high school as their highest educational attainment. Health care providers from the health center regularly go to every barangay in the municipality to conduct medical mission to promote free health care services under TB-DOTS. Health care services such as health teaching at Rural Health Unit RHU, barangay assembly, and home visitation were among the highest sources of information of the respondents. Ninety percent (90%) of the respondents were fully aware of the health care services provided by the Rosales Municipal Health Center such as “Free Medical Check up” and “Free Medicines and Six Months Treatments”. However, thirty percent (30%) of them were not aware of the “TB Immunization to Newly Born babies” services of the health center. Also, 90 percent of them had already availed of the “ Free Medicines for Six Months Treatment”, “Free Medical Check-up” , and “TB Case Finding and Collection of Sputum” services. However, 70 percent still had not yet availed of the “TB Immunization to Newly Born Babies” service. Among the health care services, the “Free Medicines” and “Free Medical Check-up” were usually availed of the respondents. The higher the level of awareness, the higher is the chance to avail the TB-DOTS services. | |
