| dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to establish the assumption that the Japanese anime “Fairy Tail” is a re-imagination and re-interpretation of Classical mythology through the archaic structures displayed in the patterns, images and symbols of the story. In order to accomplish this, Hiro Mashima’s “Fairy Tail” was paralleled to Classical Mythology such as Greek, Norse, Philippine, Japanese, Judeo-Christian Mythology. Carl Jung’s Archetypal Approach was used as theoretical framework to extract the archetypes and Formalist Approach was not part of this research. The result of the study showed that the anime “Fairy tail” is not really a product of the author’s imagination bu a part of his collective unconscious. It manifest the same patterns and images of ancient myths. Thus, study proves that the anime possessed the same characteristics of a mythology and because of that it could be considered as a modern myth that is being patronized by the new generation. | |
