dc.description.abstractThe field practice was conducted at Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center /AQD, shrimp hatchery is located in Tigbauan, Iloilo from June 21 to July 21, 2016. One of the field practice's activities is the operation to produce post larval stage of black tiger prawn (Penaeus monodon) which will be used for the experiments. The activities in the hatchery are preparation of tanks, acclimatizing, stocking of spawners in spawning tanks, egg counting and hatching, removal of pleopods, nauplii counting and stocking and feeding. Other activities done were weighing feeds and feeding of Penaeus monodon with different experimental diets, egg counting and ablationfor Penaeus indicus broodstocks, sampling in UPV and Igang Marine Station for the broodstocks of Penaeus monodon and Blue swimming crabs sampling in Dumangas. The strengths of the hatchery include good water supply, spawner and broodstock sources, good roads, and tanks that support the hatchery. The weaknesses of the hatchery include frequent brown-outs, unfavorable conditions and diseases.
