Abstract
This investigation was conducted to study the effect of ethrel on the sex expression, growth and development of four varieties of cucumber.
The plants were sprayed at various stages of development (seedling and flower bud formation) with rates of 100, 200 and 300 ppm.
Results of the study showed smaller plant size, increased femaleness, earlier maturity and increased total yield in cucumber varieties Native, Table Green, Half Long Green Improved and Palomar.
Ethrel treatments of 100 to 200 ppm applied at seedling stage and at flower bud formation seem to give the most desired effects under the conditions of the experiment.
