Influence of COVID-19 Pandemic on the career perceptions of Central Luzon State University Hospitality Management students

Abstract
This study examined the career perception of 135 third and fourth year CLSU students after the pandemic. A descriptive research design was used in this quantitative research. Moreover, the researchers used a simple random sampling techniques using survey questionnaires to collect the data and information pertaining to the demographic profile and career perceptions of the hospitality management students in CLSU. Findings reveal that there was a significant difference between their pre-pandemic and post pandemic career perceptions in terms of availability of career opportunities, working environment, professional growth and personal development, pay and benefits, skills and competencies. Results also revealed that the students are more optimistic in terms of their career opportunities in hotel, cruise, hospitality and tourism industry, in terms of the working environment that is significant in prioritizing the welfare of the workforce, policies, being qualified and working professionally, in making rapport and health issues in the work field before and during pandemic in terms of the students perception in professional growth and personal development through helping the employees in advancements, adherence to career path, in achieving proficiency and assisting the development of its employee, in terms of the quality of life and the numerous advantages that other industries do not have, in monetary and non-monetary incentives and benefits, in terms of the essential skills and abilities, personal values and personal qualities, in being advantageous in the industry and providing possibilities for the skills and competencies to be developed before and during the pandemic.
