Abstract
Communication is one of the vital instruments used to relate to others, and to be aware of the things that surround you. But as time passes, communication also evolved from how it is use through then to how it is use through now, specifically from different places. Technologies serves as a best tool to communicate and inform, it does not limit to gadgets and devices. The role of technology in people’s working and personal life keeps on growing day-by-day. This study is focusing on determining the perception of people in the rural community towards digital media as communication medium to communicate with their friends, family, colleagues on how it affects and change the lives. In addition, the study attempts understanding the affect and/or change the lives of the individuals in the rural community and in their livelihood in Mapangpang, Science City of Munoz in the province of Nueva Ecija.
The study attempted to provide answers to the following problem (1) What are the perception of people in the rural community of Mapangpang, Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija towards communication technologies as communication medium to communicate with their friends, family, colleagues, and other important people in their lives? (2) How has communication technologies affect and/or change the lives of the individuals in the rural community of Mapangpang, Science City of Munoz in Nueva Ecija? (3) How these communication technologies affect the livelihoods of the people in the rural community of Mapangpang, Science City of Munoz in Nueva Ecija? (4) Determine the beneficial effect of the communication technologies beneficial to the community? The researcher used a descriptive method to satisfy the objective of the study and randomly selected the individuals from the Rural Community of Mapangpang. The researcher used convenient sampling to select the group of people participating in the data collection with a scheduled interview from the individual/youth who have availability of time during the visit of the researcher in the community, that last for four weeks.
The impact of communication technologies on individuals in rural community of Mapangpang in Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija are significant. For the rural community of Mapangpang, communication technologies helped to improve access to information then, it increased connectivity. It gives economic opportunities and it improved social connections.
The advent of modern communication technologies has greatly impacted the life of the people in the rural community of Mapangpang, Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija. Because of this advancement of modern communication technologies, the people in the rural community of Mapangpang, Science of Munoz, Nueva Ecija expeience a more easy and convenient life. Their commuiction with long distance family and friends cost less yet still effective. Through the modern communication technologies, people in the rural community of Mapangpang can now easily access to information, health and services. More importantly, the people in the rural community of Mapangpang opens different doors of opportunities because of modern communication technologies. The opportunities include, job vacancies that can be found in the social media platforms, online selling/business, and as an avenue to acquire new new ideas for business vendures.
