| dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to identify the knowledge, attitude, practices and problems of the household on solid waste management in selected communities of San Jose City, Nueva Ecija. In determining the knowledge, attitude, practices and problems of the households on solid waste management in selected communities of San Jose City, a descriptive design using quantitative approach was used. There were 240 households selected conveniently from eight chosen barangays of San Jose City was included as respondents on the study. The structured self-administered questionnaire was used on the survey. Statistical approaches like frequency, percentage, mean and Pearson correlation were used in analyzing the data. Mostly, the respondents were females, at the age group of 40-49 years old, living in a small size family (1-4 members), they were high school graduate and their family income were below 10,000 monthly. Based on the study, majority of the respondents has a high level of knowledge and attitude on solid waste management. Proper practice on solid waste management was moderately practiced by the households while the improper practice was slightly practiced. This study also found out that "increasing population" and "lack of training on solid waste management" contributed much of a problems as perceived and encountered by the households. When it comes to the significant relationship of the variables it found out that their knowledge was positively related to their educational attainment and monthly family income but negatively correlated to their family size. Their attitude was positively related to educational attainment only. Their proper practice was positively related to their age but negatively related to their educational attainment, and monthly family income. The significant relationship of the variables was measured at 5% level of correlation. It also found out that knowledge was positively correlated at 5% level with the proper practice of the respondents. The same with the attitude that has a positive correlation with proper practice of the respondents but at 1% level of correlation only. It also reveals that problems have a positive significant relationship to both proper and improper practices on solid waste management. | |
