| dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to find out the profile, attitude and role performance of AFTs during the year 1986-87 and to determine if personal factors, attitude, motivational and perception factors are associated with role performance and if personal, motivational and perception factors were associated with attitudes. Purposive sampling was utilized in the selection of sample city and municipalities but total enumeration was done on the AFTs (former FMT) who were actually in the job in the sample city and municipalities at the time of data collection. One hundred two respondents (27.35%) were taken for the study. Data were gathered through a questionnaire and were analyzed using frequency count, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson's Product Moment Correlation andChi-square test. Majority of the respondents were married, female, with bachelor's degree. young, with permanent appointemtn, had taken a number of in-service training; they live outside the area of work assigned and had about 10 years of working experience. Majority perceived to have a satisfactory role performance. Found to have highly significant relationship with role performance were educational attainment, number of training attended, length of work experience, attitude towards job and establishing oneself in the barrio(s). Those significantly related with role performance were holding meetings/training and attitude towards supervisor. Age was significantly related only with job but not with clientele, supervisor and overall attitude. Civil status had highly significant relationship with attitude towards supervision but with significant relationship with overall attitude. Highly significant relationship was obtained between educational attainment and attitude towards clientele, supervisor, and overall attitude. Highly significant relationship existed between salary and clientele and significant relationship between the former and supervisor and overall attitude. Promotion and significantly related with job but it had highly significant and negative relationship with supervisor. applying for other job was also found negatively related with job and clientele. The rest of the motivational factors were not significantly related with attitude towards job, clientele, supervisor and overall attitude. Among the perceptional factors, establishing oneself in the barrio was significantly related with attitude toward clientele but it had highly significant relationship with attitude towards job, supervisor, and overall attitude. Working with farmer cooperators were related with job, clientele and overall attitude but not with supervisor while working with supervisor was related with job, supervisor and overall attitude but not with clientele. Educational attainment should be the basic consideration in recruiting AFTs. Time to time assessment of attitude, role performance and perceived problems and difficulties should be done in order to minimize problems and difficulties faced by AFTs so that they can improve their attitude and role performance. More rational salary and timely promotion schemes for the AFTs be developed to a more positive attitude towards their job. The role performance of AFTs should also be evaluated by supervisor and farmers clientele and both supervisory and client system variables be included for better understanding of the whole extension environment at operational level. | |
