This research study was conducted to determine the gender differences in language interplay as reflected in the fil. “One More Chance” through the conversation of the protagonist. Popoy, the male character and Basha, the female character. These were analyzed using Harvey Sacks’ (1992) Conversational Analysis (CA) and Deborah Cameron’s (1990) 3D’s Theory (Deficit Dominance and Difference). The results revealed that Popoy and Basha as the male and female characters portrayed differences in language interplay within the film. Popoy was establish as the initiator of the conversation who commonly executed more speeches in comparison with Basha who regularly responded to the turns initiated by Popoy. Also, Popoy and Basha have differences in their language interplay in the situations based on their context of quarrel, romantic, casual and argument conversations. Consequently, the study concludes in reference to the 3D’s approach that the male character, Popoy, is recurringly dominant in terms of the dynamics of the conversation while Basha, female character had deficiency. Therefore, this study is beneficial because it reflects a mirror of reality and contributes in gender stereotypes in conversation styles.
