Abstract
The Department of Education (DepEd) has been actively promoting digitization in public and private schools in recent years. In line with this initiative, Bical Elementary School in the Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, requested the implementation of a centralized network connection to enhance communication, accessibility, and overall effectiveness among network users. The network was meticulously designed and implemented with a strong focus on security. To address the limitations of the school’s existing network security, the pfSense Firewall was integrated as a robust and cost-effective solution. Additionally, a Captive Portal was incorporated to add another layer of network security and enable the monitoring of visitor devices upon joining the network. Access points were installed in areas with poor signal coverage, and network switches were used to ensure reliable connectivity across all buildings. As a result of this implementation, stakeholders—including faculty, staff, and students—experienced increased productivity and improved access to digital resources, benefiting both online and face-to-face learning environments.
