Abstract
The study was conducted to evaluate the performance of San Francisco as affected by CaNO3 and paclobutrazol. It was tested using Split plot in Randomize Complete Block Design with Paclobutrazol concentration: A1 (0 ppm) and A2 (1000 ppm) as main factor and different levels of Calcium Nitrate fertilizer: B1 (control), B2 (RRIF), B3 (RRIF + 10 kg/ha CaNO3), B4 (RRIF + 20 kg/ha CaNO3), and B5 (RRIF + 10 kg/ha CaNO3) as sub-factor. Application of paclobutrazol had a significant effect on the yield, plant height, panicle length and number of tillers of San Francisco rice variety. Percent filled grain, weight of 1000 grains, lodging incidence and calcium content of rice stalk were unaffected. Generally, application of paclobutrazol combined with the recommended rate of inorganic fertilizer reduced the height of the plants while increasing the yield of San Francisco. Calcium nitrate fertilizer application without paclobutrazol had significant effect on lodging incidence, RRIF + 10 kg of CaNO3 fertilizer got a lower lodging index, but futher increase to 20 kg and 30 kg CaNO3 results to an increase of lodging index.
