| dc.description.abstract | The major practie in Cytoplasmic Male Sterility (CMS) Line (IR580R25A) production was conducted from month of June to October 2017 at Phil-Sino Center for Agricultural Technology (PhilSCAT), Central Luzon State University, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija. The objectives of the major practice is to expose the student in actual operations and management of Cytoplasmic Male Sterility (CMS) Line (IR58025A) production specifically: to enhance the knowledge of the student and develop skills in the production of hybrid rice seeds, to produce 750 kg (15kg/bag) per ha of clean hybrid rice seed in 1 hectare area and to compute and present the cost and return analysis for CMS seeds production. The field practice student endured hands-on training in the different activities like growing seedlings in the seedbed, tranplanying, nutrient and pest management, preparation and application of GA3, supplementary pollination, rouging and post-harvest handling like harvesting, cleaning, seed drying, labeling and storing. The yield attained from 10,000m2 of Cytoplamic Male Sterility seed production obtained was 210 kilograms which was sold at Php 750 per kg and gave a gross income of Php 157,500 while B-line attined 784 kilograms sold at Php 18 per kg which gave 14,112. the total gross income for CMS and B-line Pho 171,612. The cost and return analysis revealed a net income was Php 97,627 and a production cost of Php 73,985. This resulted to Percent Return of Investment of 219%. | |
