Abstract
Traditionally, doctors have relied on paper-based methods to manage their patients' medical history and treatments. However, this approach has several issues, including inaccuracies, record misplacement, and difficulties in accessing records when needed. These problems can lead to a time-consuming and inefficient process that hinders the efficiency and effectiveness of medical care. This study developed a medical record management system that provides a centralized location for storing and sharing patients' information. This system enables doctors and nurses to access patients' medical records quickly and easily, leading to more effective and efficient care. Additionally, it allows multiple health facilities to seamlessly access and share medical records, eliminating the need for patients to provide the same information multiple times. Furthermore, the system includes a patient referral feature, allowing patients to be referred to another health facility if their doctor is not available while enabling the receiving facility to access the referred patients' information. For patient information confidentiality, doctors can only view the information of patients that are assigned to them and write doctor prescriptions. Patients can also track their health, diagnosis, and prescriptions by viewing their medical records through the system. Moreover, the system allows patients to request an official copy of their medical records from the health facility where they are registered. The developed system introduces new methods and procedures to health facilities of Umingan that will help improve the storing, sharing, and securing of patients' medical records.
