Abstract
This study sought to identify factors related to women's participation in the livelihood program of the Science City of Munoz and to determine the local government's contribution to the well-being of women and the community as perceived by the women themselves. A total of 100 women respondents comprised the sample from the three barangays that have the most number of livelihood projects of the Kababaihan ng Lungsod Agham ng Munoz (KLAM) implemented by the city.
Most of the respondents were aged 31-40 years old, married, and high school graduate. Most of them got information about KLAM through its members and officers.
The level of aspiration of the respondents was high in terms of familism, reciprocity, social mobility, and social prestige/concern.
The respondents showed a pseudo participation in the planning implementation and monitoring and evaluation phase of the livelihood projects of the KLAM.
Of those who are involved with KLAM livelihood projects, about 79 percent claimed that they have gained something such as additional income, technical know-how, and marketing strategies because of their participation in the KLAM livelihood projects.
The respondents also perceived that KLAM enhanced the competitiveness of the community. Moreover, reciprocity, and social concern were the highly significant factors related to participation in the KLAM livelihood project in the planning and monitoring and evaluation phases. also, acceptance, years of involvement, and satisfaction showed significant correlation to their participation in the KLAM livelihood projects in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation phases.
