Abstract
The escalating global population and shifting weather patterns have heightened the demand for sustainable agriculture. In response, solar-powered irrigation systems have emerged as a promising solution to optimize crop yields and water usage. However, existing systems face challenges in data monitoring, control capabilities, and historical trend analysis. This research proposes an Android application seamlessly integrated with a Solar-Powered Smart Irrigation System to address these limitations. The Android app empowers farmers with remote monitoring and control, real-time water level updates, and data-driven decision-making. Utilizing the Rapid Application Development (RAD) framework, the study proceeds through the phases of Requirements Planning, User Design, Rapid Construction, and Cutover. The User Design phase employs Figma and diagrams for prototyping, testing, and refining the interface to ensure a user-centric design. The Rapid Construction phase translates prototypes into a rigorously tested functional model, while the Cutover phase evaluates the application against the ISO 25010 standard to ensure deployment readiness. Implementation results highlight successes in water level data storage, forecasting, and real-time alert delivery, all contributing to an enhanced user experience. The integration of the Android application with the Solar-Powered Smart Irrigation System marks a significant advancement in irrigation management, achieving project objectives and improving system usability. Notable discrepancies between farmer-reported irrigation activity and app data suggest a sensitivity to environmental conditions. Evaluation results underscore the need for improved precision, accuracy, and user experience, reinforcing the importance of continuous system refinement. The GrowGreen application represents a step forward in informed decision-making and adaptability to the evolving needs of farmers in modern agriculture.
