| dc.description.abstract | The current study narrates different experiences of parents with self-identified lesbian, gay and bisexual child. The study explored different responses, adjustments and aspirations of parents for their LGB child. The objective of this study is to answer the following question: What are the different responses of parents when their child disclosed their identity? How do parents adjust upon learning that their child is LGB? And lastly, what are their aspirations for their LGB child? The participants of the study are parents of self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual female or male who currently reside in Nueva Ecija. Participants are comprised of four (4) pairs of parents who are aware of the sexual identity of their LGB child. Data were acquired through an in-depth interview with the participants and was analyzed using thematic analysis. Major findings showed that parents will always choose to accept their child when they disclose their sexuality. After knowing the sexual identity of their child, parents tend to have a closer bond with their child, as the child is now more comfortable to open up with their parents. | |
