Abstract
This study aimed to determine the best practices in information dissemination of MDRRMO in communicating disaster risk in Quintin, Pangasinan. The study was conducted in 4 barangays namely: Brgy. Bantog, Brgy. Cabangaran, Brgy. Mabini and Brgy. Casantamaria-an. The data was gathered from June to July 2018. The study used quota sampling method in choosing 4 barangays in the municipality and simple random sampling for picking 100 respondents in 4 barangays of San Quintin, Pangasinan. Questionnaire was used in gathering information from the respondents of the study and Key Informant Interview (KII) to collect necessary data from the local government unit who have first-hand knowledge about the community when it comes to disaster risk.
The results showed that the respondents’ age ranged belonged to the age group of 31-45 years old and 68% of them are females. Majority of the respondents are married and had a household size ranging 4-5 members. Most of them were educated up to high school and almost half 44% of the respondents were self employed mostly farming. Majority of them are residing in nipa hut houses. Almost half of the respondents prefer barangays officials and internet as their provider of information, usually received information on warnings from MDRRMO. Respondents classified 4 best programs of MDDRMO namely: Earthquake drill, tree planting, seminar and basic life support.
