| dc.description.abstract | The Department of Animal Science, College of Agriculture of the central Luzon State University offered the major practice program with the objective of producing graduates, who are knowledgeable, skillful and confident in their field of specialization. The major practice was conducted at Robina Farm 12 and JAY-SON Hog raising Farm covering the period of June 2015 to July 2015 and November 2015 to january 2016, respectively. The student was exposed to different management practices of sucklings, weanlings and dry sows, farrowing sows, boars and fattening operation. All inputs required are provided by the farm. A total of 10,830 piglets were weaned from 13,320 piglets born alive during the period. Robina Farm 12 attains a farrowing rate 91.29% and 2.27 as the litter index. In Robina Farm 12, the piglets weaned per litter were recorded at 9.15 heads. The stillborn (0.39 heads) and mummified (0.44) were also recorded. The recorded birth weight is 1.60 kg and the weaning weight is 7.90 kg. The weaning age of piglets in the farm was 30 days. JAY-SON Hog Raising Farm recorded its income statement from November 2015 to January 2016. The farm was able to get a total sales of Php 736,755.00 from the sales of 28 weanlings (Php 88,000.00), 60 fatteners (Php 618,720.00), 2 culled sow (Php 27,075.00), and 370 empty feed bags (Php 2,960.00). The total production expenses amounting to Php 659,035.00 was spent for feeds (Php 619,332.00), veterinary drugs (Php 13,600.12), labor (Php 18,328.00), electricity (Php 375), gasoline/diesel (Php 3,600), and other expenses (Php 4,800.00). The net income was Php 77,720 and the return on expense (ROE) was 11.79%. | |
