Abstract
The major practice in aromatic rice seed production was conducted at the Research Office Rice Seed production Area from December 2018 to April 2019, with an area of 0.50 ha. The major practice aimed to produce at least 5 t ha-1 quality CL 4 seeds for planting purposes, apply the recommended technologies in aromatic seed production, gain necessary skills and knowledge in CL 4 seed production, and to determine the profitability of CL 4 seed production. The field practice student experienced the actual field activities such as land preparation, seedbed preparation, soaking, sowing of seeds, pulling and transplanting of seedlings, replanting, weedicide and fertilizer applications, roguing, harvesting, threshing and drying, cleaning/blowing, packaging and storing. A total yield of 3,190.9 kg (6,381.8 kg ha-1) dry seed was produced from the 0.5 hectare seed production area, which was higher by 21.6% than the objective of the field practice student of at least 5,000 kg ha-1. The project incurred a tota expenses of Php 36,823.85 (Php 73,647.70 ha-1) and gross income of Php 108,978.25 (Php 217,956.50 ha-1) with anincome of Php 72,154.40 (Php 144,308.80 ha-1). the return of above operating expenses was 195.9% which means that the production of CL 4 seed was profitable.
