| dc.description.abstract | The study aimed to isolate, screen and identify the plant growth promoting rhizobacteria from rice and weedy rice and evaluate the response after inoculation using the Complete Block Design (CRD) in two factorial. One isolate from rice and one isolate from weedy rice with plant growth promoting activities were tested in rice and weedy rice using the following treatments: T1-uninoculated (control), T2- Bacillus subtilis (rice bacteria), T3- Bacillus sp. (weedy rice bacteria) and T4- Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus siamensis (combination of rice and weedy rice bacteria). Results on evaluation of selected isolates had significantly improved the plant height (56 DAS), tiller number at harvest and biomass (oven dry weight) of weedy rice. Likewise, both rice and weedy rice obtained longer shoot length, root length and vigor index when no bacterial isolates were inoculated. It is possible that lesser amount of nitrogen was present when no bacteria isolates was added. Further study on effectiveness of the bacterial isolates was added. Further study on effectiveness of the bacterial isolates as plant growth-promoting bacteria is recommended. | |
