CruzThis research employed Kurt Lewin's Field Theory of Human Behavior to analyze the characters and their interaction with the environment in "Eating fire and Drinking water" and "The Last Time I saw Mother" by Arlene J. Chai. Specifically, the study aimed to answer the following questions: How are the characters in " Eating Fire and Drinking Water" and " The Last time I saw Mother" described in terms of psyche; feeling; thoughts and behavior? How does the environment of the characters in the novels depict their psychological field? How can the interaction of the characters and the environment be represented using Kurt Lewin's formula of behavior? The researcher used the theory of Kurt lewin with its formula of B= f )P, E). In order to explain how humans interact with their environment, behavior (B) is a function (F) of the person (p)and their environment (e). This research has input, process and output. In the input part, it indicates the two selected novels of Arlene J. Chai, "The Last Time I Saw Mother" (1995) and " eating Fire and Drinking Water" (1996): in the process part, it indicates the words covered in the analysis of this study.
